The basics

One of the longest running and best known folk festivals in the world, the multi award-winning Cambridge Folk Festival celebrated its 50th year in 2014.

The festival

A true golden oldie (but age is just a number as far as we’re concerned), Cambridge Folk Festival continues to go from strength to strength, celebrating an eclectic mix of international styles and breaking new talent. You’ll be sure to hear a mix of old and new, with musicians playing Bluegrass, gospel, cajun, jazz and ceilidh both on the stages and from within the crowd.

The Folk Festival is famously family friendly. There’s a dedicated youth area, children’s concerts and a creche on site, so it’s a great place to start your festival babies’ folk education.

Our tip

Sometimes the best moments of the festival happen away from the main tents, with festival-goers launching into impromptu jams in the bars and campsite knees-ups that last long into the night.
