The basics

A proper techno and house rave-up in the grounds of a fancy mansion (Elizabeth I lived there as a kid). Don't expect champagne and canapés though – more like Strongbow and canopies. Or something.

The festival

This one-dayer in Hatfield (wherever that is) is a big date for fans of techno and house – a properly good lineup of genre stalwarts descend upon piteuresque stately grounds and presumably, ruin them for 24 hours.

Aside from the main stage, they're also gifting you with a bunch of other stuff to do, eat, and most importantly, drink. With chill-out areas and other mini stages, you won't be short of stuff to do.

If you consider yourself a serious raver, then get yourself down to this one - the chances of seeing anyone mainstream at Eastern Electrics is very slim indeed.

Our tip

There's an after party if you don't fancy inviting a load of munted strangers back to your house so that they can trash your living room.

Getting there

How do I get there?

By road: Hatfield House is 21 miles from Central London, 7 miles North of the M25 motorway (junction 23) and 2 miles East of the A1(M) (junction 4). Exit the A1(M) at junction 4 (after the Hatfield Tunnel if travelling from the South) and follow the brown leisure signs for Hatfield House via the A414 and A1000. For Sat Nav please use AL9 5HX.

By bus or train: The pedestrian entrance to Hatfield Park is opposite Hatfield railway station. The fast train from Kings Cross to Hatfield takes 20 minutes. There are London Underground links with this mainline at Finsbury Park (Piccadilly and Victoria lines). Local bus services regular drop off at Hatfield railway station.
