The festival
The name might not exactly suggest a full-blown party, but the Governor’s Ball is a three-day bash in a city that knows how to let its hair down like few others. Initially located on Governor’s Island (hence the name, rather than some kind of corporate overlord in whose honour it’s held) it's since found the perfect home on Randall's Island.
With an all-star international lineup and the New York skyline looming large in the background, it’s an urban festival with soul – like most city festivals there’s no camping, but the vibe is all about escapism and good times.
Our tip
If the one thing your festival-going experience has so far lacked is the opportunity to play giant Connect 4, Govball could be for you. There are lawn games set up if you find yourself at a loose end between sets.

Getting there
How do I get there?
Using the Subway and Bus: Take the 4, 5, or 6 train to 125th street. Once there, you can hop on the X80 express bus at 125th street and Lexington avenue, and the X80 will take you directly to the festival entrance.
using the Mahattan Ferry: Festival Ferries will be traveling to and from Randall’s Island each day of the festival, throughout the day.
Using the Brooklyn Shuttle: Festival shuttle buses will be traveling to and from Randall’s Island each day of the festival, throughout the day.
Travelling by Foot or Bike: Walking and biking to Randall’s Island Park is easy, and you can get there by crossing the RFK Bridge from Manhattan/125th street (about 15 minutes walking), RFK Bridge from Queens (about 30 minutes walking), or the RFK bridge from the Bronx (about 15 minutes walking). The event is located right next to Icahn stadium, so you can follow signs toward Icahn or any signs for the festival.
