The basics

Fun and games in the Devonshire countryside.

The festival

Summer salt? Summer salt? Mmmmmm, salty. No, silly brains, Somersault, a wonderful little festival in Devonshire. Proffering (like offering but posher) a brilliant line up of rock and folk music, Somersault has plenty of fun to offer, with a wellness centre, falconry, paddleboarding, slacklining (don't know what it is but it looks cool) and much much more. A great festival for families and music lovers, it promises to be a barnstorming weekend of good clean fun. And we'll be there partying our little backsides off.

Our tip

Don't just check out the music. Somersault is as much about activities as it is about rhythms and grooves.

Getting there

How do I get there?

Somersault is roughly 200 miles out of central London, nestled amongst Devonshire countryside and just minutes from the spectacular coast line. It's only nine miles outside of Barnstaple though, so by car, bus or train, they're still easy to find.

By car: You can find the festival at The Castle Hill Estate
, Filleigh,
Barnstaple,
Devon, England, EX32 0RH. Leave the A361 (North Devon Link Road) at the South Molton Roundabout (Aller Cross Roundabout), take the first exit onto the B3226. Turn off at the second right turning to Castle Hill Gardens. Once you’ve passed by Stags Head, look out for the big yellow mansion on your right. You’re there.

Or from the A303, take the 4th exit at the roundabout onto A358. Look out for the Exeter/Wellington junction. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the M5 to Exeter/Wellington. At junction 27, take the A361 exit to Tiverton/Barnstaple.

Or get the M5 to Junction 27 onto the A361. Then follow the directions above.

From the North, follow the M1 to A42 in Leicestershire. Take exit 23A from M1. Drive from the M5 to Devon. From the M5 exit at junction 27 for the A361 to Tiverton/Barnstaple. As you approach, somersault signs will lead you to your festival gate.

There will be plenty of places to park up so please don’t park on verges, in fire lanes, in gateways or on private roads. All car parks will be signposted as you pull up to the festival site. Car park passes are available and can be purchased in advance or on site.  Passes will need to be displayed in your vehicle windows at all times.

By coach: Save money and the environment this year at Somersault with Big Green Coach – return coach travel starts from only £19! You can either buy a coach only ticket or a coach and festival ticket package. All coaches operate as weekend return services – arriving at the official festival coach park on Thursday 23rd and departing for home on Monday 27th July. Choose your departure location from Bournemouth, Bristol, Bridgwater, Portsmouth, Southampton, Taunton and Tiverton. To view all the service information and to guarantee your seat please click here.

By train: Branching off from the main line, Tiverton rail station runs regularly from Exeter, so wherever you’re coming from, you can find Somersault easily.

By bus: There is a local bus running from Barnstaple and stopping right outside the festival site (Route no. 155, Stops: Filleigh, County Primary School or Stag’s Head, Filleigh Mill New Road). Check out Stagecoach for more info.

By taxi: Taxis from Tiverton rail station should cost around £40, so why not round up some new friends from the train. Some tried and tested taxi firms are:
