If Froome Dog's Tour de France has you hankering after a cycling trip, you're not the only one. We've rounded up some of our favourite pedal-friendly breaks, ranging from crazy climbs to easy wobbles along the coast. Allez, allez, allez!

Mont Ventoux, Provence, France

One of the most feared and respected cycling challenges in France, the 1912-metre 'Giant of Provence' is a vertiginous, seemingly endless climb. But you know the saying – what goes up… blah, blah, blah. Basically whizzing down the side of the mountain isn't a bad way to spend a weekend. Recover at the peaceful Crillon le Brave hotel, and restore your energy with multiple croissants and bottles of local wine. crillonlebrave.com

The Pyrenees, Andorra

The planning stages of next year's Tour de France are well under way, and Andorra, a municipality sitting on the border between France and Spain, will be hosting the race for three days. Andorra is home to 65 peaks over 2,000m high, so this is one for fit, slim beans that aren't afraid of high-altitude hairpins

The Granite Coast, Brittany, France

Cycling isn't just a sport for skinny folk in lycra. Take a trip to the Cote de Granit Rose and you'll be pedalling along a rocky, pink coastline with the fresh sea breeze blasting your hair, before a run of historic towns and (flat) purple heather fields. The region is known for the not-so-famous cycling fuel of crepes and sweet cider – just another reason to visit. macsadventure.com
